Hey everybody,
I’ve been heads down for the last couple weeks. I’ve been working on a new version of the Sharepoint how-to guide. I think I have gotten a lot of the kinks worked out, I’ve incorporated community feedback, and also tried to provide some more details on the process.
I’m looking for some brave souls who would be willing to test this new guide, and to provide feedback.

Can I intall Sharepoint Services 3.0 on WHS (Windows Home Server EX475?) I tried to install but the error message is looking for SP1 to be already installed.
Help!

I would be very happy to test your latest guide. Two things I think make me qualified for this role,
1) I have a WHS running in my office and I would like to install and configure sharepoint to relay some basic information from an offsite hosted SQL database.
2) I am in the user-guide industry! Specifically, pharma instruction leaflets (see my website), so this would make a nice change for me, at no charge to you.

Took back to the store two HP475 models could not get Sharepoint to load because it was looking for SP1 to already be installed which it failed each time. The new ATT U-verse gateway would not allow any web connections to take place. Over 30 service calls to ATT-verse and 15 calls to HP. Each blamed each other. FCC contacted to resolve. Big problem. Would love to have Sharepoint on this serve is I could get this to work. Love HP Serve Hate the problems to connect. Help anyone. Thanks!

Last night i read your ”hot-to” guiden on setting up sharepoin services 3.0 with Windows Home Server. Must say you’ve done a great job with it. It was quite easy to follow and it only took me a couple of tries to get it right.
Well at least almost right. I do understand you might be busy but I figured I’d ask you anyways. If I don’t ask I’ll definitively not get an answer.
As I said I have it all set up. I can access it from http://selje.homeserver.com:8085 (strange thing is that when I access my homeserver I have to got to https://selje.homeserver.com.
Anyways I can log in and it works.
Synchronizing with Outolook which is what I really need though seemed to more like a problem. I do it the regular way Actions->Connect to Outlook. The calendar gets added and populated the firs time I do this.
But after this I am no longer able to synch it. Outlook outputs the following error:
Task ‘SharePoint’ reported error (0x8000FFFF) : ‘An error occurred either in
Outlook or SharePoint. Contact the SharePoint site administrator.’
I do realize I am not alone with this problem, and I have tried the possible solutions posted on the net. I have googled around for almost a day now but with no luck.
I figured since you made this guide you might have seen or heard about this problem.
If you have and if I’am lucky would you please help me fix this?
PS: I have set up the Sharepoint Service 3.0 with SP1 and I try to synch it with Outlook 2007.

Hi I am in the same boat with Tormod Seljenes as I have not been able to find a solution to this issue anywhere. All of the forums that I have read seam to end with no good conclusion.

Synchronizing a SharePoint Calendar with Outlook has been a problem not just for us, but for others as well. We have been connecting the calendars the recommended way Actions->Connect to Outlook. The calendar gets added and populated the first time but subsequent changes that are made to the SharePoint calendar are not updated to the Outlook calendar. When running a Send\Receive the following error is given:
Task ‘SharePoint’ reported error (0×8000FFFF) : ‘An error occurred either in
Outlook or SharePoint. Contact the SharePoint site administrator.’
I have check and rechecked the settings in both SharePoint and Outlook, nothing that I did seamed to fix the issue. So I opened a SharePoint site that I had installed on my local machine and connected the calendar from that site to my Outlook and was able to receive updated with no error. The only piece that was not the same in the two instances was that Exchange was out of the picture. After talking with a coworker we realized that a client of ours started seeing the same issues after doing a migration to Exchange 2007.
I am not a Exchange guy so I will be meeting with one of our network engineers to see what we can find.

I too am having this problem with Outlook 2007, Exchange 2007 and SharePoint. In every other situation (Outlook 2003/7 & Exchange 2003) it works fine.
