Longhorn Server Beta 3 is out in the wild!

Today, Microsoft has shipped Longhorn Server Beta 3 and now you can go download it. As you try it out please let me know your thoughts by e-mailing me or commenting here on the blog. Also please use the Scenario Voting tool (http://windowsbeta.microsoft.com/server) and let MS how important certain scenarios are to you.

New Functionality for Beta 3: 

  • Powershell included by default
  • Dynamic Partitioning
  • Failover Clustering
  • Network Access Protection
  • Next Generation TCP/IP Protocol
  • Server Manager has been revamped
  • Native UEFI 2.0 support for OEMs
  • Read-Only Domain controllers – perfect for the branch office

Some new functionality has been introduced in Server Core:

  • Active Directory
  • Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services
  • DNS
  • DHCP
  • File/Print
  • Windows Media Services
  • Terminal Services Easy Print, Remote Application Services, and TS Gateway
