Problems opening backups on Vista?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom @ 5:51 pm

I was having an issue recently where I wasn’t able to open my backups on Vista. I did some research and found two workarounds. If you are having this issue here are two ways to access your backups.

  1. Disable UAC – apparently the drivers that are used to open the backups are not liking UAC. According to my sources that is supposed to be fixed soon.
  2. Your other option is to when you get that message open an elevated command prompt (Find Command Prompt on the start menu, right click and then click Run as Administrator) and then browse to the drive letter the error message references.

If you are still having issues, please bug it and then come on over to the Home Server forums (serverplayground.com) and let us know.

  1. Had same issue on the HTPC, got it sorted disabling UAC. Thanks!
