How to configure remote access when you have a domain name.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom @ 9:41 am

This is a copy of a post I made in reply to someone’s question on the forums about configuring remote access when you have a domain name (i.e. http://www.happyfamily.com)

“To configure your router for remote access, you will need to use port forwarding. You will have to first determine the internal IP address of your WHS by using ipconfig, and then in the router forward ports 80,443, and 4125 to that internal IP address. If you have an existing domain name that you want to use, you will need to determine your Internet / WAN IP address and then contact whoever you bought the domain name from and find out how to configure your domain name to point to your Internet / WAN IP address.”
