Windows Home Server RC1 is ready. This is a major milestone for the entire Home Server team, and we are pleased to announce it’s availability to the beta testing community. If you are already a part of the Home Server beta program you can go to Connect and download the RC build right now. If you are not a part of the Home Server beta program you can go to (http://connect.microsoft.com/WindowsHomeServer/) and fill out the survey to join the program.

Ramblings of a Home Server User 
Not sure why, but when I go to the download site it says that the main installation dvd.iso is too large (I’ve got 16gb free so i know it’s not a disk space issue at my end). However, clicking download anyway gives a file size download of about 1.4gb so it looks like it is downloading anyway (and at this rate will take 40 mins to download)

it’s dawned on me – the download link is “too big” because it’s too big to download via ftp/http – instead you have to use the file transfer program instead.
